Briddle Creek Working Terriers

September 3, 2009 marked a milestone for the Jack Russell.
A mutation that causes development of Primary Lens Luxation (PLL) in many breeds of dogs has been identified by a team of researchers led by Drs Gary Johnson & Elizabeth Giuliano at the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine. A DNA test for this mutation became available in mid-September 2009.  For more information you can visit the Jack Russell Terrier Research Foundation   website: www.jrt-research.com

I am in the process of getting DNA test results on all my terriers whose blood is in the RF DNA Bank,  I will up date this page as I receive them. While I now own only a few of these terriers, as many have died, retired or been placed in pet homes, I owned them at the time the blood was donated and when aplicable I received permission to post their results. The terriers at the bottom of the list had their blood donated for research in the early/mid 1990's. I chose to include their test results in hopes that we may glean useful information from some of our terriers ancestors. I will continue to do testing on all terriers,* even those cleared by parentage, allowing all breeding stock to have their own PLL certificates.

Briddle Creek sighed a big sound of relief when all of our terriers CERF'd clear for another year. Every Breeder knows the anxiety we go through on this dreaded day and to have all your terriers cerf clear is a true blessing.

Vandal of Briddle Creek was Best Open Bitch and Open Terrier Champion at the Dogwood Trial over labor day weekend. This win had special meaning as I have been away from the ring for two years due to family and my obligations to the Research Foundation.
